Aadya Misra is a Partner at Spice Route Legal, where she co-leads what is widely regarded as India’s only global data practice. She advises large Indian corporates, multinationals and various governments on the design and implementation of cutting-edge privacy strategies, cybersecurity frameworks, and regulatory policies.
Aadya helps clients unlock the value of data while managing complex compliance, cybersecurity, and third-party risks, consistently identifying opportunities and challenges that others may overlook. Her global experience enables multinational clients to navigate sophisticated cross-border privacy and compliance requirements, while she brings hands-on expertise in managing crises and mitigating data risks in India and internationally.
Aadya combines legal precision with business insight, guiding clients for whom data is central to products and operations, including businesses in the technology, media, telecoms, healthcare, e-commerce, renewable energy, and services industries. In addition, Aadya's comprehensive knowledge of health law, including HIPAA and Indian regulatory laws, attracts health and life sciences companies, who seek her guidance in addressing legal and business problems.

- Advised one of India’s largest securities brokerage firms on a 60+ country data compliance project.
- Advised India’s largest commercial bank on multiple outsourcing arrangements in relation to its digitisation project.
- Assisted India’s largest air carrier service with data protection compliance for 50+ jurisdictions and global issues on consent inheritance and cross-border data flows that arose post its merger with a leading Singapore-headquartered airline.
- Advised multiple companies on the use of artificial intelligence tools on health data and corresponding anonymisation and pseudonymisation techniques to mitigate risks of re-identification.
- Advised the world’s largest software company on structuring its cloud service products for compliance with India’s data protection laws.
- Assisted one of the world’s largest financial services technology companies in structuring submissions to the government on proposed revisions to India’s new Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDPA) in the light of the Payment Aggregator guidelines.
