What Vishal brings to the table
Vishal is an Associate with the Technology in Financial Services team at Spice Route Legal.
Vishal has specialised his practice and primarily focusses on digital identity management and works with some of India's largest digital lenders and regulated entities on product structuring, commercial arrangements, and KYC and AML compliances.
Vishal also has an interest in the blockchain and cryptocurrency ecosystem. He spends a sizeable portion of his time understanding the legal, regulatory, and business challenges associated with distributed ledger technology, initial coin offerings (ICOs), security tokens, decentralised finance (DeFi), smart contracts, and other emerging blockchain applications.
Outside of his specialised role in the financial services space, he is passionate about sports and gaming and works closely with some of our largest gaming clients to help implement their vision for their platforms.
Representative matters:
- Assisted one of Singapore’s largest commercial banks with the complex regulatory landscape surrounding licensing under India’s Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA) regulations.
- Assisted one of India’s largest telecommunication operators with the launch of India’s largest gaming platform and structuring a virtual currency to be used on the platform.
- Assisted a blockchain-based cybersecurity firm in evaluating regulatory risks associated with its market entry in India.
